  • Dr. Kenneth Mallard
    Owner

    'Doc' Mallard is the owner and operator of the Strafford Veterinary Clinic in Strafford.

    He was born and raised in Southwest Missouri and still calls it home today. Being raised around farming, he developed a love for animals at an early age. He was an active member in both 4H and FFA throughout high school, which led his decision to attend college and Veterinary School. Dr. Mallard graduated in 1997 with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Missouri, in Columbia. Having graduated from vet school on a Friday, he opened the doors of Strafford Veterinary Clinic on the following Monday, where he continues to be blessed with many wonderful clients.

  • Makenzie Schwalm,
    B.S.
    Veterinary Technician

    Makenzie joined Strafford Veterinary Clinic in 2016. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science in 2018 from Crowder College. In her free time, she enjoys reading, cooking, and doing anything outdoors. She loves to go home to visit her family in El Dorado Springs. She spends much of her time with her family and three dogs, Chaos Atlas, and Prancer.

  • Erin Mallard
    Co-Owner

    Erin is Dr. Mallard's wife of 32 years. They have three children; Jessi, Nate and Hannah. She has been at the clinic full time since 2006. During the week you can find her working anywhere at the clinic inside or out! You can find her in the office working on administrative duties, training the staff on the latest protocols, and finding better, more efficient processes for the clinic. What she enjoys most about being at the clinic is seeing happy, healthy clients, their pets, and the staff. In her free time she can be found landscaping, painting, biking, or spending time with her family.

  • Joseph Williams
    Office Manager

    'Joe' has been with Strafford Veterinary Clinic since January of 2010. He is Dr. Mallard's younger brother and is such an asset to the practice. You can usually find him in the back, administrative area answering phones, communicating with clients, being involved with appointments and directing employees. Joe also enjoys being involved in the growth of the Reproductive Program, but what he enjoys most at the clinic is being a part of extending the quality and longevity of patients through annual care and wellness recommendations. Joe is married to his lovely wife Samantha.  Together they have 2 children, Brooklyn and Treyton. Joe has two fur kids named Patty and Harley. In his spare time he enjoys being outdoors, spending time with his family, watching football, and camping.

  • Kim Haynes
    Customer Service Specialist

    You will find Kim, one of our Customer Service Specialists up front as you arrive at the clinic. Kim came to our work family in December 2017, and what an awesome addition she has been!  She is married with three children, two of them grown and one still at home.  Kim’s favorite breed of dog is the goldendoodle which may be why she and her family have Molly, a beautiful goldendoodle.  They also have Lanie, an aussidoodle.  When Kim is not at the clinic she loves to scrapbook, plant flowers and shell hunt on the beach when she can.

  • Jena Wells
    Charge Nurse Manager

    Jena has been with Strafford Veterinary Clinic since the doors opened in 1997. She enjoys the privilege to care for our wonderful clients and pets, and being part of creating the patient-client bond. She is always willing to go above and beyond to better serve the patient, client and practice. Jena is married with four beautiful children; Wesley, Garret, Isabel, and Devrie. She and her family enjoy horseback riding, camping, and watching movies. Jena has been raising dogs for over 15 years. Raising puppies and finding their perfect, forever homes has been a rewarding experience for her whole family!

  • Chloe Collins, M.S.
    Veterinary Technician

    Chloe joined our team in the summer of 2021. She earned her Master of Science in Agriculture in spring of 2023 with a concentration in cattle reproduction. She also has her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science as well. Chloe spends most of time with her husband Sawyer and their corgi, Beans. She also loves cows and has a Black Angus calf named Carlton. Chloe is also an aspiring artist in her spare time!

    Jennifer Leffel
    Associate Veterinarian

    Dr. Jen joined Strafford Veterinary Clinic in 2020. Her special interests are dermatology and radiology/ultrasound. Dr. Jen is originally from Wisconsin. She earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from MU College of Veterinary Medicine in 2017, and her Bachelors of Science in Animal Science in 2013 from UW Platteville. Dr. Jen and her significant other reside in the Strafford community with their two cats and two dogs, one of which is a French Bulldog, and the other is a Frenchton. She likes to read, draw, paint, and play video games in her spare time. 

  • Amy Taylor
    Customer Service Specialist

    Amy joined Strafford Veterinary Clinic in 2019. Amy loves spending time with her husband, kids, and fur babies. In her spare time, her family goes camping, kayaking, and spending time outdoors. Amy is a diehard Packers and Alabama football fan! She loves to read and do papercrafts. 

  • Dr. Megan Lemke
    Associate Veterinarian

    Dr. Megan joined Strafford Veterinary clinic in the summer of 2022. Her special interests are clinical pathology, nutrition, feline medicine, and whole body wellness. Dr. Megan is originally from Illinois. She earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from MU College of Veterinary Medicine in 2022, and her Bachelors of Science in Biology in 2018 from MSU with two minors in chemistry and creative writing. Dr. Megan and her significant other reside in the Springfield community with their three cats, one of which was adopted from the clinic. She likes to read, write, practice circus arts, and play board games in her spare time. 

  • Faith Corley RVT
    Registered Veterinary Technician

    In April of 2018 Strafford Veterinary Clinic became home to Faith Corley, a Registered Veterinary Technician.  Faith has had lots of experience as a vet tech and continues her love for animals at home. She has lots of horses, a mini donkey, and two dogs. In the exam room Faith strives to help us educate our clients on ways to keep pets healthy and happy.

  • Kate Kumar-Rogers
    Client Care Specialist

    Kate became a member of our staff in November 2020.  She is one of the friendly faces you will see up front and greets you on the phone when you call.  Kate has two dogs. Lenny is her big, handsome yellow lab. She also has Coco who is a mixed dog that she rescued.  Kate loves watching football! In her free time you can find Kate reading, traveling, and being out on the water of any kind. 

  • Hannah Anderson
    Client Care Specialist

    Hannah has quite literally grown up at the clinic because she is one of three children of Dr. Mallard and Erin.  She began her career here as a four-year-old, helping with new-born puppies on occasion.  She is known at the clinic as “the cat whisperer” because, on more than one occasion, she has been able to get a sick kitty to eat when no one else could.  Hannah will be one of the many friendly voices on the phone when you call our clinic.  She is married and has a son.  In her free time she likes hiking and climbing and spending time with her family.  Hannah has a kitty named Princess Kitty and a Heeler mix named Oakleigh.

  • Ann Baker
    Veterinary Technician

    Ann joined Strafford Vet Clinic in October of 2020. She is supported by her friends, family and fur babies. Ann has an Australian Shepherd named Belle and a 'well fed' tuxedo cat named Turbo. In Ann’s free time you can find her at the dirt track watching racing or drinking a mtn dew! Her favorite dog breed is a corgi. Ann is very excited to keep learning within the vet med field and she is excited for what her future holds. You'll often find her working with Dr. Jen because they're an awesome team!

  • Crystal Detwiller
    Veterinary Technician

    Crystal joined Strafford Vet Clinic August of 2020. Crystal was born in Georgia, raised in Texas and grew up in Minnesota. She now calls Missouri her home. She is married and has four children. Crystal has two cats named MauMau and Phoenix. She also has a dog named Frankie. Crystal’s favorite breeds of cats are Ragdolls and Brown Tabbies. 

  • Whitney Braasch
    Reproductive Technician

    Whitney came to our clinic in July of 2016.  She had always dreamt of working with animals and now she is fulfilling that dream.  Her favorite things in life are her son, Kyler, who is her entire world; her family; reading and mostly trying to keep up with Kyler.  She was born and raised in Springfield, went to Parkview High, and then proceeded to go to college for a few years.  Now she is a wife, mother, friend, and care-giver to her fur-babies.  She wouldn’t have it any other way!

  • Dr. Jessica Handley
    Associate Veterinarian

    Dr. Jessica Handley grew up on a hobby farm in Marshfield, Missouri. She gained 15 years of experience spending much of her spare time in veterinary clinics volunteering and earning her way through high school and college. She studied at Ozark Technical Community College where she received her Associate of Arts Degree in 2011. She studied at Missouri State University earning a double major Bachelor’s degree in Biology and Animal Science with a minor in Chemistry in 2014. Her life-long career goals brought her to the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine were she graduated with a doctorate of veterinary medicine in 2019. She came back to Strafford Vet shortly after graduating and has been a crucial asset to our team ever since!
